My name is Shawn Stetson and I am thrilled to be coaching the U15 BB team this season. My experiences as a player and in my professional work have influenced and shaped my philosophy and approach as a youth sport leader. Growing up as a player in a small town minor hockey system I began my hockey journey, like many players, at the house league level. As my skill and drive developed I advanced to play the rest of my minor hockey at the representative level. From my second year Novice (U9) I was drawn to the goaltending position and spent over 30 years staring down shooters of all skills and abilities. Being a goaltender allowed me to develop a unique, bigger picture, perspective and understanding of the game as I was able to see and experince the game taking shape and unfolding in front of and all around me. I was invited to participate in the provincial under 17 program and found success at the local level and advanced to the provincial stages. During my youth playing days I also officiated many games as a certified referee which furthered my knowledge of the game from a different perspective.
In my professional life, I work with a variety of groups ranging from classrooms and sports teams to corporate teams and educators. I help all the people I work with make positive connections, build healthy and productive communities, and increase their communication and leadership capabilities.
I am passionate about hockey, and enjoy coaching young athletes so they can be the best version of themselves both on and off the ice. Over the past 7 years I have had the priviledge to have help guide players at the house and local league levels through to A and AA. I look forward to helping guide the U15 BB team this season.
