House League General Information

About the AAHA House League

The AAHA is made up of both house league and competitive (rep) teams. If you are new to the AAHA we hope the following will help understand and prepare your daughter for the upcoming hockey year.

The AAHA house League plays within the structure of the Greater Hamilton Girls Hockey League (GHGHL).  U9 through U15 divisions play a 14 game schedule usually on weekends with one 1 hour practice per week.  Our U18 age group has a slightly different practice to game ratio with a higher percentage of games but the same amount of ice time. Although games may be played on different nights, most are on weekends. Practices are weeknights, times and days remain consistent throughout the regular season. The season starts beginning October and finishes early 2023.  Post season playoffs will be scheduled for all teams and will culminate on Super Sunday for all teams in late March.

Girls can register in the league until age 17 however most have played before U13 division.  We find all ages can learn the game quickly however, it would benefit to have additional ice time from the Instructional Program (IP) that the AAGHA runs on Thursdays. For a nominal fee the program is geared toward younger divisions (U9, U11) or girls new to the AAHA. The program is run by some of the best instructors in the Hamilton area. It is a very popular program and begins in early October. More information on that here

If your daughter is interested in playing goalie, we offer comprehensive financial incentives and training programs.

We at the AAHA try to make your daughters experience her most memorable hockey experience. We often are limited on space so it is advisable to register when registration begins in May. Then not only do you get the early bird rate, you can rest assured that, in September, your daughter will once again be with her friends and teammates playing Canada’s favourite sport.
